Our meads
Dreypnis Dropar
Dreypnis Dropar, or the Drops of Draupnir, is GALDR’s take on a traditional mead. Made using only water, honey and yeast, but don’t let the simplicity fool you. These drops offer a floral sweetness combined with a hint of caramel heat from the alcohol that goes equally well with a soft cheese, a berry based dessert or just enjoyed on its own.
The name Drops of Draupnir is inspired by the story in Norse myth about Draupnir, a golden ring given to Odin, which on every ninth night would drip eight new rings of equal size and weight to the original.
As such, these Drops of Draupnir will serve as the source of all of our magical meads to come.
Jatnagarður
Our first product is a braggot named Jatnagarður. The name is inspired by Jøtunheimur, the home of the giants in Norse myth. These Norse giants drank beer rather than mead, which was reserved for the gods of Asgard. Our braggot Jatnagarður brings together the best of both worlds in a magical drink which is best enjoyed cold.
Jatnagarður has a fruity and floral aroma and it has a light body with lots of honey and malty flavours with some caramel mixed in as well. It is best served cold and of course it goes great with the Faroese cuisine!
